New schedule for up coming exhibitions

Semi finished Painting Frames

Ready for party!
Those are my baby frames for my paintings that just arrived this morning. It took me almost 2 months to have them here. They are only semi finished now and I have to paint the right color for each painting.
So exciting to have them now!!! Time to work!!!

Don't they look nice already!
I need to decide the color for each painting. That's when I'll have headache!

These small plein air paintings look so cute with their semi finished frames! Mmm.... dark / light mahogany color or bronze gold color? Can't decide now! Well.... just have to paint these color and try... like buying cloth!

Self portrait with head scarf

38.5cm x 54cm
Charcoal pencil on paper

Another self portrait with head scarf today!
This is a five hours work. I've been working on it since this morning until this afternoon. I wanted the light projected from the floor to my face. But it didn't look well. So this is the one I have now.  I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't creat the light I want. This light isn't too different from the previous one. They both have the same direction from right to left but yes, the mood is different. I can't say which one is my favourite. I'll practice more with charcoal pencil before go back to oil.

Self portrait after adjustment

38.5cm x 54cm
Charcoal pencil on paper
Do you see the difference between yesterday's portrait and today's? I did adjust the right eye. It was too large and its shades weren't right. I fixed a little bit of chin area too. And I also made shoulder and neck gradually disappeared into the whiteness space.

Self portrait with charcoal pencil

38.5cm x 54cm
Charcoal pencil on paper

I keep practicing the drawing! I think one of the eyes is too dark and they both aren't placed correctly. And the whole portrait is painted too hight. It would have been lower so my hair won't touch the boarder of paper. I always have this problem. I did feel it was placed too night but I was too busy working and ignoring it completely. Now that I'm not happy with it. Its too late!!! Its a very bad habit.

Temptation

22.9cm x 30.5cm ( 9" x 12")
Black and white charcoal on charcoal paper

After I dropped my kids to school yesterday morning, I had a need to be close to the sea. Buttonwood Bay has always been there when I need it. The sea, the sun, the breeze, the waves, the salty air, the atmosphere that created by the sunlight...  I love sea since I was a child. You can't miss it when you feel that moment! I did a quick sketch then went home and starting this studio drawing. The actual reflection from the sea are much more stronger. I'm so scared to ruining this drawing by adding anything to make it look better... feeling agitated... but somehow fascinated by it. Well, some days are good, some are not!
