(Plein air) Gaillardia Flowers 2

This is the second painting of this plant. It looked slightly diffetent because of the light. This morning, I began this painting earlier than last time. I could see the shape of sunlight was still on the wall at the lower right  part of painting. This painting looks quite abstract to me. It's all about the colors that breathe! Breathe.. 😏

(Plein air) Gaillardia Flowers

Oil on canvas board
22 x 27 cm

I've been watching this spot of light for almost a week. Its dramatic light fells only between 10 to 12 close to noon. Since i finished the first painting earlier, i was finally able to paint it. The seed of this plant was originally brought from an island of Taiwan where I'd spent my childhood. Those images of memory came back to me... Time goes too fast! 😳

(Plein air) Secret Garden

Oil on canvas board
22x 27cm

I began this painting yesterday morning. I couldn't finished so continued this morning because i needed the same light. So much colors gathered all together made your heart felt warm. Also the yellow light that penetrated from the fence made the background intetesting.

(Plein air) Sun Bathing Lilies 4

Oil on canvas board
22x 27cm

I actually began this painting yesterday afternoon. Light changed too fast and i was not able to complete it. This afternoon I continued to work on it. I saw more colors today. Maybe it was because of the angle of the light that caused different reflections.

(Still life) Purple Flowers on a Vase

Oil on canvas board
22 x 27 cm

This morning, I felt a little tired of chasing after the sun. So I set a still life with purple flowers and painted indoor. Well, I was still chasing after the sun since I was painting with natural light instead of light bolt. However, I did feel less stressful. But I had hard time to bring out the color of the purple flowers. πŸ˜₯

(Plein air) Sun Bathing Lilies 3

Oil on canvas board
22 x 27 cm

I almost killed my fish and lilies. My thiner dropped into the pond while i was working on this piece. I panicked and poured it out as much as possible from the water. Then i fixed another thiner container. Guess there was a hole on the bottom of the container and of course the thiner began to ran into the pond again!!! Ohh.... I got crazy this time! I felt so guilty wondering if there's any fish died because of me... 😨

(Plein air) Afternoon Lilies

Oil on canvas
22 x 27 cm

Afternoon lilies look resting and peaceful along with these joyful green leaves. Now I really understand why some of the artists prefer to work with photographs. Light doesn't stay still even for a second and it moves like a serpent from here to there. Every time is a unique experience of challenge. To me, no matter how good the photo is, it can never replace the real feeling. One can never feel the warm glittering light either the passing breeze that make the scenary so vivif from a photograph.

(Plein air) Colorful Coleus Plant

Oil on canvas board
22 x 27cm

I had an urge to keep working this afternoon and this colorful Coleus plant by the pond from my back yard had attracted my attention. Plant itself is a complicated arrangement. I try to capture the essence of light and color instead of shapes. I know i would've added more details if i had a little more of time.

(Plein air) Pink Adenium Flower

Oil on canvas board
22 x 27cm

It was a cloudy morning while i was working on this painting. The brightest color was the yellowish on the centre of the Adenium flower. Unlike the lilies with sunlight, there's no sparkles of light or any dramatic movement on it. Now that I'm looking at the picture, it looks like a Chinese link painting. πŸ˜†

(Plein air) Sun Bathing Lilies 2

Oil on canvas board
22 x 27 cm

I had hard time working on this painting. As usual, the light changes constantly and i have to chase after it. At the begging, i was painting it all over, all at once but then i begin to focuse one flower at a time. Then step away and make sure the color value and the spot light are all right. Also, I memorize how it feels and looks when the sunlight hit at the right spot.

I haven't post anything for a while. Now that i finished packing my paintings ready to send to Merida, Mexico for my up coming show at the end of this month. I feel so good to start painting again!!!! It feels so good!!!! Cant describe with words.... πŸ˜πŸ˜„ Nothing's better than this! My tripot is broken so i paint at my back yard. Light changes so fast that i have to adjust the colors with it. I like to paint with my instinct. It comes out great today!!!
